26. Dying in the Dhāma
26. Dying in the Dhāma:
“Death in any other holy place brings liberation or future sense gratification, but death in Navadvīpa brings pure devotional service. In Navadvīpa, an untimely death, a painful death, a violent death, or a peaceful death at home are all auspicious.” (Urdvamnaya Tantra)
“One who resides in Lord Gaurāṅga’s abode of Navadvīpa, which is saturated with unlimited mercy, and leaves his body there will certainly attain perfection.” (Caitanya Sataka)
“Once after completing an 8-month worldwide preaching tour, Śrīla Prabhupāda returned to Māyāpur and gave an ecstatic Śrīmad Bhāgavatam class. Then relaxing in his room, Śrīla Prabhupāda exclaimed, ‘Ahhh! Māyāpur, the spiritual world! Living or dying in Māyāpur is all the same.’ Seeing some bewilderment on his disciple’s faces, Śrīla Prabhupāda spoke again, ‘Living in Māyāpur is living in the spiritual world. Dying in Māyāpur means one goes immediately back to the spiritual world.” (Mayapur Journal)
