42. Descent of the Lord
42. Descent of the Lord:
“In Kali-yuga the people are lazy, unhappy, petty-minded, wretched, unfortunate, and devoted to pleasing the belly and genital. Their hearts and minds are polluted with many sins. For these unfortunate people there is only one way to easily attain liberation - simply by chanting Lord Krsna's holy names they will attain all happiness.
"For this reason the Supreme Personality of Godhead descends to purify Kali-yuga of its sins. O child, at that time the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who has two eyes, two arms and a fair complexion splendid as molten gold, will appear as the son of Śrī Śaci-devī.
"The people in that age will worship the Lord of the universes, whose complexion is fair and who is named Śrī Krsna Caitanya, with 16 holy names of the Lord and with mantras from the Tantras.
"O brahmana, in that age simply by hearing of Lord Hari's glories the people will become pure devotees. For this reason, the Kali-yuga is the best of all ages. The pious people in Satya and other yugas desire a birth in Kali-yuga which easily brings devotion to the Lord. The same result obtained in Satya-yuga and other ages by meditation and deity worship is obtained in Kali-yuga by glorifying the Lord.
"In glorifying the Lord there are no restrictions according to time and place. Glorifying Lord Hari is the highest religion in the Kali-yuga. The people in the other 3 yugas glorify the Kali-yuga, where simply by glorifying the Lord one attains the supreme abode." (Satvata Tantra)
In the Visväsara Tantra and the Kularnava Tantra, Lord Siva described the appearance of Sri Caitanya Mahāprabhu to his wife Parvati: "In the age of Kali in charming Navadvīpa on the Ganges, in the home of Jagannatha Misra, in the womb of Saci devī, the eternal Supreme Personality of Godhead will appear in a fair-complexioned form. He will destroy the sins of the age of Kali by spreading the chanting of Lord Hari's holy names."
In the Brahma-yamala Lord Krsna said, "Sometimes I personally appear on the surface of the world in the garb of a devotee. Specifically, in Kali-yuga I appear in Māyāpur (Navadvīpa), as the son of Saci to start the sankirtana movement."
The Kapila Tantra says, "During the horrible Kali-yuga, in Mayapur, the Supreme Lord will appear in a brahmana's house. Together with His associates He will start the sankirtana movement."
The Brhad-Brahma-Yamala Tantra says, "All glories to Sri Gauracandra, who is perfect bliss in the age of Kali. This fair complexioned, human-like form of the Supreme Personality of Godhead takes birth in Navadvipa and gives everyone the glorious name of Lord Hari."
